Bandits killed a businessman named Mallam Auwal in Kaduna State, even though his family paid a ransom of N12 million.
Auwal was taken from his home in Hayin Babban Saura Police Quarters.
It was reported that after his family worked hard to collect the ransom for his release, the kidnappers reportedly killed him and said they had buried his body.
Additionally, it was learned that the bandits also took Auwal's son, who was the one who handed over the ransom to get his father freed.
A Salatul Gha'ib, which is a funeral prayer for someone who is not present, was conducted for Mallam Auwal at Murtala Square in Kaduna on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Family members, neighbors, and local leaders came together to pray for the deceased and to ask for divine help in getting Auwal's son back, who is still being held captive.
