Troops from Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a soldier who was marked as wanted by the Nigerian Army due to his suspected involvement in providing military equipment to terrorist groups active in the North-East.
The individual, identified as 23NA/84/1939 Private Mohammed Yusuf, who was stationed at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility (NAOTF) in Lagos, was captured around 6:30 p.m.
on Sunday, July 25, 2026, by forces from the 7 Provost Group, under the leadership of the Acting Commander.
Initial inquiries showed that prior to being declared wanted, the soldier left his unit and traveled to Maiduguri on July 7, where he is believed to have gone into hiding.
Further investigation uncovered that he was allegedly taken in by 25NA/89/12687 Private Baba Kamal Sale of the Corps of Intelligence, based in Dikwa, at Gomari Costain in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
Based on reliable intelligence, members of the 7 Provost Group monitored the suspect continuously before stopping him at the Jidari Bus Stop, where he was reportedly trying to escape to Cameroon.
The suspect is now in the possession of the 7 Provost Group, where he is being interviewed further regarding the alleged provision of military supplies to terrorist groups and potential involvement of other individuals.
Military officials referred to the arrest as a major development in the ongoing efforts to neutralize networks within the military that support terrorist activities, and they noted that investigations are still ongoing to fully understand the suspect's actions and identify any other people involved.
