Officer caught on camera allegedly threatening to shoot anyone who filmed him while on duty arrested and ordered to undergo drug testing.
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested ASP Newton Isokpehi, the police officer featured in a viral video where he was seen threatening violence. In the video, the officer claimed he would shoot anyone who dared to film him while on duty.
After widespread public reaction, the police command swiftly identified and detained the officer.
In accordance with the disciplinary procedures and ethical guidelines of the Nigeria Police Force, internal disciplinary actions have been initiated against the officer.
As part of the ongoing inquiry, the officer has also undergone a drug test to help the Command gather all relevant information and ensure a comprehensive and transparent process.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, strongly condemned the actions shown in the video and emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined organization that will not tolerate misconduct, abuse of authority, incitement, or any other unprofessional behavior that could damage public trust and confidence.
The Anambra State Police Command has assured the public that the results of the disciplinary process will be disclosed, and any officer found responsible will face suitable penalties as outlined by law and police regulations.
