22-year-old Nigerian woman with a physical disability rescued in Mali after being trafficked for prostitution.

A 22- time-old physically challenged Nigerian woman, Njoku Nnena, has been saved after she was traded to Mali for pr0stitution.

GlobalAnti-Human Trafficking Organisation bared this in a statement issued by its author, Prosper Michael, on Monday, April 6, 2026, punch reported.

In an interview, the victims said profitable difficulty and family liabilities pushed her to seek openings outside her home state.

The victim explained that her trip began in Onitsha and latterly moved to Lagos, where she met individualities who linked her to merchandisers.

“ I wanted to support my three- time-old son and help my mama . That was why I decided to travel, ” she explained.

“ In Lagos, I was introduced to a woman around an under ground. From there, arrangements were made for me to travel, ” she said.

She was latterly transported through Cotonou in the Benin Republic before arriving in Mali, where she was handed over to another member of the trafficking network.

On appearance, Nnena said she was placed in a house with other Nigerian girls under the control of a “ Mrs.. ”

“ We were forced into harlotry and asked to shoot plutocrat to them, indeed though we did n’t understand the terms, ” she contended.

Her fire worsened due to her health condition.

Nnena, who suffers from epilepsy performing from a nonage stroke, said she ran out of drug during the trip.

“ I did n’t have my medicines with me, and my condition came worse. I could n’t continue what they asked me to do, ” she said.

She was ultimately transferred back to Nigeria and latterly saved with the intervention of GAHTO, arriving on Easter Friday.

Speaking on the development, her mama , Ipe Ikenna Lora, reported her son’s long- standing health challenges.

She started having storms at the age of two, which latterly led to coma and developed into epilepsy with memory loss, ” she said.

Lora added that the situation contributed to the breakdown of her marriage.

“ My hubby left, condemning me for her condition. Since also, I've been taking care of her alone while running a small business, ” she said.

She noted that the burden has affected her health, leading to high blood pressure, and revealed that her son’s condition occasionally causes her to wander down from home.

“ I did n’t indeed know she had travelled to Mali until GAHTO communicated me after delivering her, ” she added.

Nnena appealed for support to rebuild her life.

“ I want to go back to academy or learn a skill so I can take care of myself. I also need medical treatment to manage my condition, ” she said.

Her mama also appealed to government agencies and well- meaning individualities for backing.

" I'm asking for help so my son can have a stable life again, ” she said.

In response, the group raised fresh concern over a growing swell in mortal trafficking cases involving youthful women in Nigeria.

The group said the rearmost case reflects a broader and disquieting pattern of trafficking across West Africa, particularly targeting vulnerable youthful women facing profitable difficulty and health challenges.

“ This case is n't insulated. It highlights a growing trend of trafficking in the region, ” the organisation said.

GAHTO specifically prompted crucial stakeholders, including Chioma D. Uzodinma and Nkechinyere Ugwu, to take immediate and coordinated action.

It also emphasised the need for increased public mindfulness, stronger preventative fabrics, and sustainable recuperation programmes for survivors.

“ The situation underscores the critical need for collaborative action to combat mortal trafficking and support victims in rebuilding their lives with quality and stopgap, ” the organisation added.

It, thus, called on government authorities to urgently apply support measures to rehabilitate victims and help farther circumstances.
