The Mokopane Regional Court in South Africa has doomed a 25- time-old woman, Yvonne Maja to an effective 18 times’ direct imprisonment after condemning her of tried m8rder and assault with intent to beget grievous fleshly detriment.
Maja was doomed on Monday, 09 February 2026, following her conviction on 01 December 2025.
She entered 18 times’ direct imprisonment for tried m8rder( count one) and two times’ direct imprisonment for assault GBH( count two), to run coincidently.
The sentencing stems from an incident that passed on 13 October 2024 at roughly 1730 in Mogoto Mabereng, Zebediela, under the Moletlane policing area.
The indicted went to herex-boyfriend’s hearthstone, where she set up him with his new mate, Mmapeu Hlanga.
An argument replaced, during which the indicted allegedly disrespected the 27- time-old womanish victim before pouring acid on her.
The substance caused severe injuries. A alternate victim, a 28- time-old joker, was also affected, sustaining less serious injuries.
Both victims were rushed to Zebediela Hospital, after which the womanish victim was transferred to Mankweng Hospital, where she remained hospitalised for roughly seven months due to the soberness of her injuries.
The indicted was traced and arrested on 14 February 2025 and originally appeared before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court, where she was granted bail of R3 000.
The matter was latterly transferred to the Mokopane Regional Court for trial.
The case was delved by Sergeant Nthapa Judah Swafo, whose work contributed to the successful conviction and sentencing.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe ate the judgment , reaffirming the SAPS commitment to decisively diving violent crimes, particularly those linked to domestic and relationship- related controversies.
She stressed that similar acts wo n't be permitted and that perpetrators will be held responsible through
the felonious justice system.
