Edo Doctor’s Alleged Kidnappers Arrested While Seeking Treatment for Their Sick Child

Suspected kidnappers who kidnapped a medical croaker in Auchi, Edo State, and killed his youngish family have been arrested after they were allegedly linked by their victim at the sanitarium where he works.

The suspects were restrained after they brought their children to the sanitarium for medical treatment. While attending to duties, the formerly abducted croaker , linked as Dr. Abu Ibrahim Babatunde, reportedly walked into the ward and recognised the suspects as members of the gang that kidnapped him weeks before. Following the identification, sanitarium authorities advised security labor force, and the suspects were latterly taken into police guardianship.

attesting the arrest to journalists, the prophet of the state police command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the police had preliminarily arrested a suspect in connection with the hijacking .

She mentioned that the first advance came on February 3 when operatives of the Auchi Division, while conducting a routine backcountry- digging operation in collaboration with original nimrods and vigilante groups, at Warake Forest = interdicted one Saminu Kawujie ‘ M'. She said a a hunt conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of two( 2) shanks , two( 2) mobile phones, one( 1) UBA ATM card, and the sum of Twenty Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty Naira( N 20,250.00). An identification cortege was conducted at the Police station and he was linked by as one of the abductors of Dr Abu Babatunde.

On the rearmost arrest, she said;

‘’ also, on 08/02/2026 at about 0900 hrs, the Divisional Police Officer following a lead on the same case mustered operatives to the Specialist Sanitarium, Auchi, where two suspects linked as Idris Abubakar ‘ M’ and Sani Abubakar ‘ M’, were restrained at the sanitarium demesne. Both suspects have also been linked as part of the gang that kidnapped Dr. Babatunde on 02/01/2026. Idris Abubakar was linked as the particular person who entered rescue plutocrat for the release of Dr. Abu.''

Babatunde was kidnapped alongside his youngish family, Abu Tahir, on January 2, 2026, at their hearthstone on City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, Auchi, while they were opening the gate to their emulsion. Days latterly, tragedy struck when the body of Abu Tahir was discovered on January 5 near Orley River, along City Pride Road. He was reportedly k!lled by the abductors.

Babatunde, who had lately graduated from medical academy and was yet to commence his housemanship at the time of the hijacking , was released after a rescue of N50 million was reportedly paid. His family, still, was n't as fortunate.
