The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman linked as Ada Clement for allegedly operating a baby plant in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The prophet of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade, who bared this in a statement on Sunday, October 26, 2025 said police operatives saved five pregnant underage girls set up in the illegal installation.
According to the PPRO, the suspect vended babies for N 400,000 and over for womanish children and N 600,000 and over for manly children.
“ The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered a suspected baby plant and mortal trafficking syndicate operating within Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state, ” the statement read.
“ The case, which was transferred from the Ore Division to the Command’s Gender- Grounded Violence Unit, is presently under active disquisition."
Ayanlade said the incident came to light on the 21st of October, 2025, when one Vivian Peter, a 17- time-old girl from Ikot Ekpan, Akwa Ibom State, who's presently pregnant, reported at Ore Division that she had been traded from Akwa Ibom to Ore under the guise of being offered a job occasion.
“ Upon her appearance in Ore, she was taken to a supposed clinic, which latterly turned out to be a baby plant, where she met other pregnant girls allegedly being held for exploitation, ” the statement read.
" She further revealed that the proprietor of the installation, linked as one Ada Clement, latterly instructed that she be taken to another sanitarium in Ore for a medical checkup.
“ still, she managed to escape and sought retreat at Ore Division, where she reported the incident to the police. ”
Amusement fleetly on the report, the PPRO said operatives from Ore Division, in collaboration with the gender unit, raided the said installation, leading to the successful deliverance of five pregnant girls and a baby boy.
" It was discovered that one of the victims had formerly given birth and is presently enteringpost-natal treatment at the General Hospital, Ore, while the remaining saved victims are in safe defensive guardianship of the police. ”
He added that primary disquisition had revealed that the suspect, Ada Clement, and her cohorts had confessed to the crime, admitting that the installation was being used as a baby plant, where youthful pregnant girls were kept until they delivered, after which their babies were vended to individualities seeking children.
“ It was farther discovered that the babies were vended for N 400,000 and over for womanish children, and N 600,000 and over for manly children, ” he noted.
The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a full disquisition into the incident to insure that all members of the trafficking ring are restrained and fulfilled consequently
He further bared that frantic sweats were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate, who are presently being traced by investigators from the command’s gender- grounded violence unit.
