The suspects have been identified as Blessing Wefsutu (27), Chineye Christian (36), Archibong Udeme Ifereke (23), and Maurine Peter (25). All four were reportedly staff members of an educational consultancy based in the Ago Okota area of Lagos.
The case was initially reported at the Ago Okota Police Division before being transferred to the SCID for in-depth investigation. According to preliminary findings, the suspects allegedly defrauded over 100 victims by falsely promising to secure Canadian and Australian work visas in exchange for large sums of money.
Further investigations suggest that additional members of the syndicate are still at large. Authorities are actively working to apprehend all accomplices and ensure justice is served.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has urged the public to be cautious and verify the legitimacy of travel and recruitment agencies before making any visa-related payments. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting residents from fraud and bringing offenders to justice.
