According to a statement from ICE shared with Mail Online, Lame—an Italian citizen born in Senegal—was taken into custody on June 6 at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. He had entered the country on April 30 and reportedly overstayed the terms of his visa.
“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, on June 6, at the Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada for immigration violations,” the agency stated. “Lame entered the United States on April 30 and overstayed the terms of his visa. He was granted voluntary departure on June 6 and has since left the U.S.”
Lame, whose full name is Seringe Khabane Lame, rose to global fame with his signature silent reaction videos on TikTok, where he humorously mocks overly complicated "life hacks." He currently boasts 162.2 million followers on the platform, making him one of its most-followed creators.
Born in Senegal, Lame moved to Chivasso, near Turin, Italy, with his family at the age of one and officially became an Italian citizen in 2022.
The news comes amid heightened immigration enforcement in the U.S. under President Donald Trump, who returned to office in January. Since then, ICE has ramped up deportation efforts, with widespread raids and mass arrests targeting undocumented immigrants.
