Nigerian singer Tems has won the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for her hit song "Love Me JeJe". Tems beat out fellow Nigerian artists Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and Wizkid, as well as US R&B star Chris Brown.
In an emotional acceptance speech, Tems thanked her team, family, and mother, whose birthday is tomorrow.
"Love Me JeJe" has gained massive popularity, with over 125 million listens on Spotify and 21 million views on YouTube.
This win marks Tems' second Grammy Award, after winning Best Melodic Rap Performance in 2023 for her feature on Future's "Wait For U". Nigerian President Bola Tinubu congratulated Tems on bringing pride to the country on the global stage.
Tems has received eight Grammy nominations throughout her career and has won numerous other awards, including NAACP Image Awards, a Soul Train Music Award, and BET Awards.
