The Senate has summoned the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, and the heads of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) to address allegations that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is funding terrorism.
Senator Ali Ndume raised a motion prompting the investigation, citing concerns sparked by a viral video of US Congressman Scott Perry alleging USAID's involvement in funding terrorism in various countries, including Nigeria.
Ndume also referenced statements made by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, regarding international organizations sponsoring and training terrorist groups.
The Senate's action follows previous reports of the US suspending foreign aid through USAID.
