Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of LoveWorld, also known as Christ Embassy, has shed light on why some gospel artistes left his church.
According to Oyakhilome, these musicians prioritized fame and financial gain over their spiritual calling, leading to a worldly approach to worship.
Oyakhilome expressed concern that music in the church had lost its essence as a form of true devotion, becoming more of a spectacle.
He noted that while these artistes actively led praise and worship, they often skipped prayer sessions, indicating a lack of genuine commitment to serving God.
In a viral video, Oyakhilome stated, "The church was turned into a party place, not a prayer place where God's word was truly celebrated."
He further emphasized that many of these musicians had begun charging fees for their performances, prioritizing personal success over spiritual duty.
Oyakhilome revealed that he had initially celebrated their contributions but later tried to correct their path, only to meet resistance. He expressed hope that these individuals would repent and return to their spiritual roots.
