The Ogun State Police Command has charged the suspended Olorile of Orile Ifo, Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, to court for assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.
Ogunjobi, a traditional ruler, was arraigned on three counts: conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
According to Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force spokesman, Ogunjobi was granted bail, and the case has been adjourned to March 6, 2025. The police have vowed to uphold the rule of law and ensure justice is served in the matter.
This development comes after a viral video showed Ogunjobi verbally and physically assaulting the elderly chief, sparking widespread outrage. The Ogun State government had earlier suspended the monarch for six months, stripping him of his traditional regalia pending further investigation.
