Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been ordered to appear before the Federal High Court in Abuja for his resumed trial.
The hearing notice, dated January 22, 2025, was addressed to Kanu's special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, and scheduled the trial for Monday, February 10, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
Kanu, who faces terrorism charges, has been in detention since his repatriation from Kenya in June 2021.
His legal team, including Ejimakor, has repeatedly opposed Justice Binta Nyako's presiding over the case, citing bias and requesting her recusal.
The case has been marred by controversy, with Kanu's arrest and detention sparking widespread debate. The Court of Appeal had previously struck out the terrorism charges against Kanu, but the Supreme Court reversed the acquittal and ordered the continuation of his trial.
Kanu's legal team has expressed concerns about the fairness of the trial, with Ejimakor stating that they will appear in court "with bated breath." The outcome of the trial remains uncertain, with Kanu's fate hanging in the balance.
