Kenyan Lawmaker Faces Charges for Forged Academic Certificates

A Kenyan Member of Parliament, George Koimburi, has been charged with forgery and presenting false academic credentials. 

According to the public prosecutor, Koimburi allegedly falsified his high school certificate and two university course participation certificates.

Koimburi, who represents the Juja constituency, pleaded not guilty to the six charges brought against him. He was released on cash bail pending further investigation.

Under Kenyan law, parliamentary candidates are required to have completed high school. While cases of politicians presenting fake academic credentials are not uncommon, successful prosecutions are rare.

The charges against Koimburi highlight the need for greater accountability and transparency in Kenyan politics.
