An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court has dismissed the defamation case brought against lawyer Dele Farotimi by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Aare Afe Babalola.
Farotimi was arrested in Lagos on December 3, 2024, by Ekiti State Police over allegations stemming from his book, "Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System." Babalola claimed the book defamed him by alleging he corrupted the Supreme Court.
During the hearing, the prosecution, led by Mr. Martins A. Akala, requested to withdraw the 14-count charge, stating they were acting on police instructions.
The defense, led by Adejare Kembi, did not object. Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted the prosecution's request and struck out the case.
