A series of drone strikes targeted Russian oil refineries overnight, with multiple regions reporting attacks.
According to a military intelligence source, a Lukoil oil refinery in Nizhny Novgorod was struck by four Ukrainian drones, causing significant damage.
The refinery, located around 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is believed to support Russian occupation forces.
Local officials reported fires and air defense responses across several regions, including Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, Tver, and Bryansk.
Governor Gleb Nikitin confirmed that air defense systems shot down multiple drones, with fragments falling on the industrial site. No injuries were reported. Ukraine considers oil refineries valid military targets, as they fund Russia's war efforts.
This attack comes after Ukraine confirmed hitting the Ryazan Oil Refinery in Russia on January 24, causing it to suspend operations. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported shooting down 26 drones in the Bryansk region.
