Tragedy struck in Lagos, Nigeria, after a two-story building collapsed in the Ikota area of Ajah, resulting in two confirmed deaths, five injuries, and several people still trapped. The incident occurred overnight at Mega Mall Estate.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency teams working to free those trapped in the rubble.
According to the Lagos Office Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, the cause of the collapse remains unknown.
Farinloye confirmed that two bodies have been recovered, including an adult and a teenager. The five injured individuals, all men, have been hospitalized with serious injuries.
Investigations are set to begin to determine the cause of the collapse.
