15-year-old America-born girl shot dead by father in Pakistan over TikTok videos

A heartbreaking incident has shaken Pakistan, where a 15-year-old US-born girl was shot dead by her father over her TikTok videos.

The family had recently moved back to Pakistan from the United States after living there for 25 years.

According to Pakistani police, the suspect, Anwar ul-Haq, initially claimed that unidentified gunmen killed his daughter. However, he later confessed to the crime, citing his disapproval of her TikTok content as the motive.

Police investigations revealed that the family had objections to the girl's dressing, lifestyle, and social gatherings.

The police also found that the girl had started creating content on TikTok while living in the US and continued to do so after moving to Pakistan.

This tragic incident highlights the conservative social norms in Pakistan, where over 1,000 women are killed annually over perceived damage to "honour". The government has also blocked TikTok several times due to content moderation issues.

The suspect, Anwar ul-Haq, has been charged with murder, and his brother-in-law has also been arrested in connection with the killing.

The US embassy has not been informed of the incident, and the family has declined to comment.
