Nigeria’s petroleum marketers will be meeting with Dangote Refinery between Tuesday and Wednesday to deliberate on the increase in the price of petrol.
In an interview with Arise TV on Sunday, the Spokesperson of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Chinedu Ukadike said with more actions were taken in terms of petrol distribution, the price of the product would drop for Nigerians.
In his words: “We hope to sit down with Dangote maybe Tuesday or Wednesday and if they give us a template or price, the more we take action in terms of distribution lines, the price will come down.
“We are not afraid of this competition, we have organized ourselves and are ready to compete because this is the survival of the fittest.”
The Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Naira-Crude Sale Implementation Committee, Wale Edun announced last week that the Nigerian government has decided to allow oil marketers to purchase petrol directly from Dangote Refinery.
This decision means that Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is no longer the sole buyer of Dangote Petrol.
Recall that last Wednesday, NNPCL again increased the petrol pump price in its retail outlets to N1,030 per liter in Abuja, having increase it to N879 per liter from N617 in September 2024.
