Endbadgovernance protesters in Lagos state were shocked on Tuesday as the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olanrewaju Ishola provided water and snacks for them.
The protest, organised by civil society organisations, saw protesters, majorly youths, marched from Ikeja Under Bridge to Gani Fawehinmi Park, seeking improved economic situation.
The protesters carried placards with different inscriptions calling for an end to hardship in the country.
One of the coordinators, Mr Omoyele Sowore, urging the Federal Government to take more steps to reduce the hardship, lamented the harsh economic situation in the country.
“We are out to exercise our rights as Nigerians and draw attention to the hardship faced by citizens.
“We are appealing to the government to punish corrupt citizens and address the high cost of living in Nigeria,” Sowore stated.
Another coordinator of the protest and member of the Youth Rights Campaign, Mr Hassan Soweto, stated that the protesters are acting in the general interest of Nigerians, who need the government to address hunger and hardship urgently.
