Not long after the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah fired volleys of rockets at northern Israel with one drone targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s holiday home, Israel retaliated by launching several air attacks on Beirut’s southern suburb.
One of three lebanon launched drones hit the residence of Netanyahu in the town of Caesarea on Saturday, Netanyahu’s spokesman said, adding that he was not in the vicinity and there were no casualties.
The two other drones according to the Israeli military were intercepted. More than 100 rockets were fired at northern Israel from Lebanon, killed one person and left at least 13 injured.
“The proxies of Iran who today tried to assassinate me and my wife made a bitter mistake,” Netanyahu said.
Since October last year, Iran-aligned Hezbollah has been trading fire with Israel, with Saturday's attacks coming a day after the group announced a new phase in the fighting.
Though Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the Caesarea drone attack, it admitted to carrying out several rocket attacks on northern and central Israel.
