Ajaero released by DSS, amid outrage, looming strike

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, was released late Monday night by the Department of State Services Service, DSS, on administrative bail.

In a statement through his official X account on Monday midnight to confirm the release of the NLC president, Omoyele Sowere wrote: “BREAKING: The fascist regime of @officialABAT has released the @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero from @OfficialDSSNG custody on bail.”

The release of the NLC president is potentially a move to avert a potential shutdown of the economy.

The NLC in a communique threatened to shut down the country’s economy if Ajaero was not released before midnight on Monday.

However, an official statement confirming his release is still being expected from the Labour Congress, as at the time of updating this report.
