Over 5, 000 households sacked by flood in Yobe


At least 5,000 households across 208 communities in 16 local government areas of the state were affected by either flood or windstorm, from April 2024 to date, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, has disclosed.

And in the aftermath of the recent flood disaster recorded in Karasuwa, Yusufari, Machina and Nguru local government areas, the SEMA said it has conducted a rapid needs assessment on victims in line with emergency best practices.

The agency also assured its readiness to close the gaps and ensure victims are protected and supported within the available resources.

“Already validation is ongoing and immediate needs and support in line with available resources will be delivered as directed by His Excellency [Gov Mai Mala Buni],” the SEMA posted on its Facebook page.
