Holidaymakers flee Paris airport terminals over 'bomb threat'

A tip from an anonymous caller that a bomb was present in the toilets, has seen part of an airport in Paris, France evacuated.

Affected are terminals two and three of Paris-Orly airport in France, according to French media reports.

A source told Le Parisien after a phone call was made to police at around 6p.m. this evening that "the premises are being evacuated,".

A police source also said: "A claimant called saying that he had put a bomb in the airport toilets." Specialist services are reported to be entering to inspect the premises.

The incident comes after a bomb alert grounded a plane bound from Paris-Orly to Montpellier during the week. The alert, which grounded a Transavia plane for a number of hours, turned out to be a false claim, Mirrors UK newspaper reports.

Paris-Orly is one of the two major airports that serve the French capital. The other being Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Social media footage appeared to show people being evacuated from the airport. This, including the footage in the embed below, has not yet been verified.

In July, the Basel Mulhouse airport, also known as EuroAirport as evacuated for "safety reasons" following concerns of a bomb alert. "The airport has reopened and flight operations are gradually restarting," airport officials said in a statement. "Passengers are requested to contact their airline for information about their flight."

There were a series of fake bomb threats at airports in France last year.
