Medical and dental students totaling 20 and a House Officer in Benue State have been kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State.
The students were on their way to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu at the time of the incident.
The students said to be from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were traveling together when they were ambushed by gunmen around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of the state.
Confriming the incident the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident, said an investigation had been launched into the abduction.
“Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.”
