Presidency to send Minimum Wage Bill to NASS next week

Beyond all circumstances, the New National Minimum Wage bill will be transmitted to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu next week.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the disclosure to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting, presided over by President Tinubu at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He also said the executive will send "an amendment to the 2024 budget" to the National Assembly. The amendment is anticipated to take care of the new minimum wage among other things.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu and the leadership of the Organized Labour will be meet on Thursday for an extended deliberation.

The Tripartite Committee of the new National Minimum Wage had submitted two separate figures to the President following the disagreement among the different stakeholders. 

Contrary to the N250,000 demanded by the organized labour, the government team and the organized private sector offered N62,000.
